Privacy Policy
The short version
- Organizers give us their name, email and phone so we can send their parade links and reach them about their parade.
- People riding in a parade don’t give us their name. Their phone’s location stays on their phone. Only the lead and last car share their location, and only while that driver has it switched on.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.
- We don’t sell personal information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- Ask us anytime to see, correct or delete your information: yisroel@hinenisystems.com.
Who we are and what this covers
Hineni Systems (“we”, “us”) runs hinenisystems.com and Hineni Parade at parade.hinenisystems.com, a service that plays synced music and shows a live map for Chanukah car parades. This policy covers those two sites. Other Hineni Systems apps have their own privacy notices, such as the RefApp Privacy Policy.
What we collect, and why
Parade organizers
- Name, email address and phone number. We use your email to send your private organizer link and receipts, and your email or phone to reach you about your parade (for example, if something needs your attention before it starts).
- Parade details: the parade’s name, city, date and time, time zone, route, stops, and the messages you send to cars.
- Music you upload. We store the files so every car in your parade can download them.
- Payment records: the plan, amount, date, and Stripe’s reference numbers and receipt email. Stripe processes the payment; we don’t receive your card number.
People riding in a parade
- A random device code created on your phone, so we can count cars and apply the parade’s car limit. It isn’t linked to your name or phone number.
- Phone type (Android, iPhone or other) and when you joined.
- Your location stays on your phone. If you turn on directions, your phone uses its location to show where you are and your next turn. It isn’t sent to us.
Lead and last car drivers
- While “share my location” is switched on, the phone sends its location, speed, heading and accuracy every few seconds so other cars and the sidewalk map can follow the parade. We keep only the most recent position for each car: each update replaces the previous one. Sharing stops when the driver switches it off or closes the page.
People watching from the sidewalk
- The spot you tap on the map, or your location if you use the locate button, stays on your phone. We don’t receive it.
Contact form
- Your name, email, and anything else you choose to include (phone, community, message). It’s emailed to us so we can reply. We keep a short record that a message arrived (your email and the topic) to prevent spam.
Technical information
- Like any website, our servers and providers receive your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use this to run and protect the service, not to profile you.
- We keep a log of changes to each parade (for example, “music started”) so organizers and our support can see what happened.
What’s stored on your device
We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. The site stores a few things in your browser so it works the way you expect:
- the random device code, the last parade code you used, and organizer or driver links you opened (so you can come back);
- your light or dark mode choice and your sound-timing adjustment;
- the parade’s music, so it keeps playing without signal. It is replaced when you join another parade.
You can clear these anytime in your browser settings.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run the service. They process information for us, under their own privacy and security terms:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database and file storage | Everything the service stores; request logs |
| Stripe | Payments | What you enter at checkout |
| Brevo | Sending email | Recipient email address and the message |
| Stadia Maps | Map images and address search | Map areas viewed, search text, IP address |
| OSRM (Project OSRM) | Snapping a route to the roads, for organizers | The route points the organizer placed |
| Web fonts; sign-in for our own admin page | IP address and browser details when fonts load |
We also share information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the service (in which case this policy keeps applying to your information). We don’t sell personal information or share it for advertising.
Inside a parade, some details are visible to others by design: everyone with the parade code can see the parade’s name, route, stops, time, music titles and the lead and last cars’ positions. Organizers can see how many cars joined, but not who they are.
How long we keep it
We keep parade records, organizer contact details and payment records for as long as the parade’s account is useful to the organizer and as long as we need them for tax, accounting and legal reasons. Car positions are overwritten with each update. Organizers can ask us to delete a parade, its music and their contact details at any time. We’ll do so unless we’re legally required to keep something (for example, payment records).
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Organizer and driver links contain a private key and work like a password: anyone who has the link can use it, so keep it private. If you think yours was shared by mistake, contact us and we’ll help.
Children
Hineni Parade is meant to be set up and used by adults. Families ride together, but we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child gave us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it, by emailing yisroel@hinenisystems.com. Depending on where you live (for example California, or the EU and UK), you may have additional rights under local law. We’ll honor them, and we won’t treat you differently for using them. We may need to confirm it’s really you before acting on a request.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll tell organizers by email before it takes effect.
